What is thread lift?
Thread lift is a non-surgical procedure that uses special thread and sutures to reposition skin for a smoother, firmer appearance.
Threads provide a new underlying structure for skin that has lost elasticity through the ageing process.
At the same time, the procedure stimulates the body’s own collagen production for results that are both dramatic and long-lasting.
Thread lifts can be used on any area of the face or neck, including the brow, cheekbones, jawline and around the mouth.
How does it work?
Prior to the procedure, markings are made to indicate the proper point of entry and direction for the sutures.
Thread is then inserted along the line markings, using tiny incisions or puncture marks.
The thread is then gently tightened to lift the skin in the area, before it is anchored.
Multiple threads may be used in a single area to provide balance, proportion and a natural result.
The new threads are fully absorbable, making it an absorbable suture lift, not a thread lift.
They can also be lifted in two directions, which results in a more three-dimensional look.
Am I a good candidate?
The thread lift procedure tends to work best on patients with early to moderate signs of ageing, often between the ages of 30 and 50.
This procedure will not address excess amounts of loose skin and will have minimal effect on isolated deposits of fat that interfere with the overall facial contour.
A thread lift can be a good option for someone who wants to turn back the clock but is not yet ready for plastic surgery.
